Harry Potter Movie Night

The Top Ten Fall Movies to Watch This Season

September 12, 20252 min read

I loved writing the top summer movies list, so I jumped at the chance to create one for fall. Fall is just such an amazing season, from the colors to the weather to the clothes…and the movies for this season don’t disappoint either.

  1. Harry Potter (Preferably 1-3)

These movies are so good and nostalgic. I’m a huge fan of Harry Potter, and these movies never fail to give off those autumn vibes.

  1. You’ve Got Mail

I first watched this movie because my mom loves it, and oh my gosh, it’s so good! Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks have understandably played love interests more than once, and they understood the enemies-to-lovers assignment.

  1. Winnie the Pooh (1977 or 2011)

I mean, this movie is just the cutest! With a classic Disney feel, you’ll definitely want to visit the Hundred Acre Wood this fall (this is a great family pick!).

  1. Mean Girls

“It’s October 3rd.” Need I say more? But seriously, this comedy is hilarious in all the right ways and is great for a laugh this season.

  1. Casper

A great Halloween pick, this movie is adorable and isn’t too scary, so anyone can watch it. It’s a must around October!

  1. Matilda

This classic movie is a great movie to watch this fall, with a back-to-school feel and a whimsical '90s setting.

  1. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown /A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

Now these are great movies heading into the holiday season, with our favorite clumsy underdog, Charlie Brown, taking center stage with his group of friends and his dog, Snoopy.

  1. Beauty and the Beast

With a cozy, candlelit atmosphere, a moody setting, and a warm color palette, this movie is romantic fall fun.

  1. Rudy

For the sports enthusiast, this movie is perfect for college football season. Everyone knows of an underdog story they love, and this heartwarming true story may become your new favorite.

  1. The Devil Wears Prada

This is a sneaky pick for this list, but to me, it’s very “pumpkin spice latte in Manhattan” coded. It’s basically the cinematic equivalent of stepping out in your best trench coat, grabbing a hot coffee, and strutting down a city street with crisp leaves underfoot.

Bonus movies: Fantastic Mr Fox, Coco, Little Women

And there you have it—ten perfect movies to curl up with this fall. Whether you’re in the mood for something spooky, romantic, nostalgic, or inspiring, these films capture everything we love about the season: crisp air, cozy nights, and a little bit of magic. So grab a blanket, pour yourself a mug of something warm, and press play—you’ve got the ultimate fall watchlist waiting for you.
