Happy New Year!
As this year comes to a close, I’m realizing that growth didn’t always look the way I expected it to. There were times I felt confident and times I questioned myself. But looking back now, I see a year that didn’t happen, but shaped me. This year, I learned more about the importance of putting creative projects into the world, working in groups, and...physics! I did things that weren't on my to do list for 2025 For example, I started this blog with my friends, created a short film, and got a new agent. I've wanted to create a short film for a while, but didn't expect to do it this year. I'm glad I did. (More on that soon!)
What surprised me most was not what I accomplished this year, but what those experiences taught me about myself. I learned that starting before you feel ready is sometimes the only way things actually get done. Working with other people on the film challenged me to listen more, speak up when it mattered, and trust the process even when it felt messy. I also learned that growth often shows up as discomfort. Confusing physics problems, creative risks, and moments of uncertainty all stretched me in ways I did not fully appreciate at the time. Looking back now, I am grateful for them all.
As I step into a new year, I will carry these lessons with me instead of leaving them behind. I must keep creating, keep showing up even when progress feels slow, and keep trusting that growth is happening even when I cannot see it yet. If this year taught me anything, it is that meaningful change does not always announce itself loudly. Sometimes it happens quietly, one choice at a time.
In a few minutes, I will be creating a vision movie for 2026 with my family, something that has become a meaningful way for us to reflect and look ahead together. I encourage you to find a version of this that works for you, whether that is a vision movie, a vision board, a written list, or even a simple spreadsheet. Having something to work toward gives daily effort a sense of purpose, and even small wins begin to matter more when they are connected to a larger goal. A few years ago, my dad had the idea to set his vision movie as the wallpaper on his Apple Watch so he could see it every day. You could do something similar by creating a collage and setting it as your phone wallpaper as a daily reminder of what you are working toward. However you choose to step into the new year, I hope it is with intention and faith. Happy New Year!
